Your Role:

The Billing Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of claims processing and reimbursement. This position is responsible for preparing, submitting, and following up on claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience in healthcare billing, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through efficient revenue cycle practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare and submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and other payers in a timely manner.

  • Review medical and care coordination documentation to ensure appropriate billing codes and compliance.

  • Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and initiate appeals when necessary.

  • Resolve billing discrepancies and work collaboratively with care teams to ensure documentation supports submitted charges.

  • Maintain current knowledge of billing requirements and regulatory changes related to Medicare and Medicaid.

  • Post payments and adjustments in billing software and reconcile accounts as needed.

  • Respond to payer inquiries and requests for additional information.

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and internal data privacy policies.

  • Assist in month-end reporting and audits as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Associate degree or relevant experience.

  • 2+ years of billing experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with Medicare and Medicaid preferred.

  • Proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote or distributed team.

  • Experience in care coordination or behavioral health billing is a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Detail oriented.
